Getting the Right Amount of Prints

One of the most common mistakes that people make when getting a copier lease is paying for far too many prints. They think that they are making a smart choice by playing it safe, but what most people are doing is just wasting money. Getting the right amount of prints is crucial if you don’t want to overspend on your copier costs every month.

The most common thing that happens is that people get tricked into getting more than they need because of what a sales person tells them. You may feel good about your choice of print amount, but you get told that you should get more just in case. After all, prints cost extra if you go over the amount you agree to and need more mid month. This is true, but it doesn’t always matter as much as you think.

For example, let’s say that you wanted 20,000 prints at $.015 per print. A copier salesperson may suggest that you get 25,000 prints just in case. You can’t be sure what’s going to happen with your business down the road. They even say that they will give you the 25,000 prints for $.014 per print. This looks like a good deal, but it’s not.

20,000 prints x $.015 per print = $300 per month

25,000 prints x $.014 per print = $350 per month

You are spending $50 extra per month on prints that you will never use. That’s just extra money out of your pocket every month. We believe that it’s always better to pay for products that you use. Those extra prints don’t rollover to the next month so whatever you don’t use is just waste.

We recommend buying about 80% of what you need on your busiest months. This gives you some room to work with on your slower months, and makes it so that you can just buy what you actually need.
